The weather across America has been very unpredictable this winter. It is April and places in the north are still getting snow. Other places are getting lots of rain which is still unusual. I have said several times that Mother nature is bi-polar or she needs to make up her mind. Some have said we need to find her and give her medicine. This makes me wonder about who mother nature is and how she became responsible for the weather. This is what I discovered. The character of mother nature originates in Greek mythology Known as Gaia, she is the personification of all aspects of nature. When she is happy it is beautiful and sunny. When she is angry there are storms and strong winds, things get damaged. In mythology she is the first goddess. She was created from Chaos, meaning the great emptiness of the world. She created the first man known as Uranus and they had many children. Most of the gods and Goddesses in Greek mythology come from Gaia. Mother nature controls the wind and rain and all aspects of nature. She is said to kill anyone who destroys her forests. She is also known as the creator of the seasons and of the wildlife. She is worshipped by many religions and each one has their own version of what she looks like. So, as you can see Mother nature is as complex as she is beautiful. She protects what she creates and can destroy what she sees fit. She provides all the things that we need and unfortunately, we take a lot of it for granted. I found the story of how the seasons were created to be very interesting and something I did not know. Mother nature is also known as Demeter who is married to Zeus and mother of Persephone. Persephone was abducted by Hades and taken to the underworld. Demeter was so upset that she refused to let any crops grow and this famine would have wiped out the human race. Zeus convinced Hades to return Persephone to her mother. Persephone had eaten pomegranate seeds which are known as the food of the dead because of this she had to spend part of her time in the underworld. When Persephone is in the underworld, Demeter is sad which is why it is cold and dark. Winter time To celebrate Persephone’s return, Demeter turns things warm and sunny. Thus spring time. One of the things that mother nature is responsible for is the forest and trees. We need trees for Oxygen and for shade. Trees add beauty to neighborhoods and parks. We need people to take care of these trees. People like New Albany tree service. New Albany is situated on the Ohio river right across the river from Louisville Kentucky. The tree service serves the Floyd and Clark county area. They provide tree trimming services and will cut down trees as well. If you are in need of a tree service and live in the Floyd county are be sure to call New Albany tree service.
